Waterways and Fisheries: A Collection of Poems and Shanties by Sunflower is poetry book created as the central piece of the homonymous visual project. Created through analogic assemblage and printing techniques, in the fashion of most fanzines from the 1980s and 1990s, this artist's book regroups original poems that inspired the visual ensemble.
The book introduces us to the narrator’s deepest and most intimate thoughts, as well as his reflections on the questions of youth and desire and how these two notions can easily become intertwined. Much like a diary of adolescence, this selection of poems serves as an ode to all manifestations of lust and love and paints an overall picture of a homosexual arousing.
Two coming-of-age tales are woven within this publication: an underwater story of melodramatic passion binding two swimmer boys, destined to ride together for eternity, and an antique-inspired, everlasting love affair between two cosmic mariners inspired by Greek Mythology.
